On Saturday, September 15th we kick off a little mini-tour at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago. Then we high-tail it to Austin to play Mohawk and Ft. Worth, TX to play the Wall of Sound Festival with heroes like Explosions in the Sky, Om, The Sword, The Books and 35 other bands at La Grave Field. On the way home we stop in Jon and Andy's hometown of Kansas City, MO to nail the Record Bar and show them what their homeboys have been doing instead of making money for the last several years. Did I say mini-tour? Yes I did. Join us where you can.

Ok, so this 07.07.07 show has turned into something even more exciting. Like a new hair care product with no alcohol that causes no drying or stickiness. It's just...exciting. This will be Denial Fest's inaugural show. Denial Fest is a new series of indie rock shows in Chicago to raise awareness for global warming. Dark music for the brightest of causes. This night will be a two parter at the Empty Bottle starting at 7PM with Moveon.org's "Party for the Planet" with a potluck/bbq, a message from Al Gore, and a "virtual town hall" with Moveon.org members addressing presidential candidates on climate issues. Then at 10PM starts the aggravated solo cello work of Helen Money, the slaughterhouse grindcore of Plague Bringer, and the cinematic epic post-rock of The Timeout Drawer. Support your community and the ball you live on. Word!

We're very excited for 07.07.07. We will be playing at the Empty Bottle in Chicago with some of our favorite peers: Helen Money, a solo cellist who employs a throng of loops and distortion, creating beauty of the darkest nature - and Plague Bringer, the world's scariest, and most aggressive black/death metal duo to date. With the slogan, "More Hooks Than a Slaughterhouse", what more could you want? Don't miss out on this.

ThePinebender and Dead Meadow show was off the hizzy. Possibly our most fiery set to date. Those who attended might agree. Those who did not missed out - at least on having an opinion.

At the Del Rey show we tried out a new song, tentatively titled "Head Butt Chest" - inspired by, well, you know. Name subject to change, of course, when we think of something longer and more pretentious.

There is a a generous review of "Alone" over at Decoy Music. Wow. Thank you.

We just set up a show at the Subteranean that is going to be AWESOME. Our new favorite band comes from Indianapolis of all places, You Will Die, and one of our favorites in Chicago, Bear Claw, will be opening for a show we are headlining Friday June 9th. Will you be there? I will break another bass drum head, that's how bad *ss we're talkin here. I have to go get some lunch now, I'm hungry.

Back from the tour, read the play-by-play tour diary on our myspace page. Thank you all you kind and good people. Except the bands who made my skin crawl at the Knitting Factory. And the scary rednecks who hang fake scrotums from the rear bumpers of their trucks, and the absolutely incessant need for most Americans to display their Nationalistic pride, hard fought by doing absolutely nothing except munching Doritos, by slapping flag thingys on everything in site. Yes. I have something to say.

We've got 14 songs spanning 4 records down below in the new Jambox, uh, bitches. We can make more tracks available this way and that is ultra-satisfactionizing for me. And the rest of us.

Correction: "Alone" comes out April 17th. Distribution switch or something. Sh*t. Other goings-on: We've just completed our first new track in quite a while and it's nicknamed/called "Bird Head" and it is close to 10 minutes long. I love it. I think we will be playing it on tour. I am being very matter of fact.

Aquarius Records writes a real nice review of Nowonmai- "If there was ever going to be a band to FINALLY steal the slow-building- atmospheric- cinematic- post-rock- soundscape crown from Godspeed! You Black Emperor it would definitely have to be The Timeout Drawer." Woh. Not that were battling, but that's quite a compliment. Thank you Aquarius.

Our EP, titled "Alone" comes out on March 20th. More new music on that, 25 minutes or so, including a track described by a reviewer as "death metal". Jeez. The EP is no whack-job, let me tell you. It's every bit as mean-it as Nowonmai. It's like Nowonmai's little brother only with some man-sized hands and feet. The kind of little brother that grows up and strangles whack-jobs. In the meantime, we've been planning for a two-weeker to the East Coast and the Florida Coast and back home again in Mid-April. Just selling candy and making money.

Now Like Photographs puts Nowonmai up in their list of top 24 instrumental records of 2005. That is nice. Not just cause, or you know, but I like that list.

Lies, thievery, thievery, torture, racism, illegal wars, illegal surveillance, lillegal surveillance, kickbacks, bribes. The darkness gets thicker. Seriously, this is out of hand. This is way beyond out of hand. I realize that this is just a band website, but I think its important to express my piss. Piss.

Consumption alert. Insound.com is doing a promotion of the record this week: you can get it there on sale and if you get the promotion code from us via our email newsletter, you can get a discount on all the crap you buy. Thanks Insound.

Textura.org gives Nowonmai #5 on their top 20 of 2005. That's an honor. Thank you, you. They also say this:
"Slashing guitars incinerate deserted cityscapes while drums and moogs wreak havoc: apocalypse never sounded so good. Nowonmai? nuhsxerok: elbadercnru." And they've got our picks of 2005 up there too. December 06, 2005
A nice review of Nowonmai is in the new issue of XLR8R and it's also readable online. They mention pain. They say we have pain. It's true, so true. Did you read the tour diary yet? Then you will understand.

All five installments of the tour diary are in. Right, there's 5. I know right? Pictures and all that. Even, in one case, some freakin sound.
In other news, we've just mastered our 6 song EP. It will be released on Consumers March 14th 2006. We are super happ-happ with it. It completes our little trilogy. The art and the music is off and away via Southern Records to get repli-replicated. Comes correct as an enhanced CD - it's gonna have the music video on it bitches. What a fantastic proposition. We'll talk about the EP title and tracks later. Later! November 16, 2005

We just got home from our first full tour in a couple of years. It was an overwhelming experience and we have to say thank you to all of you great people, most notably those of you who gave us your homes and hearts while we were out: Matt in Grand Rapids, Chris + Missy in Columbus, the girls in Brookville PA, Chuck and Rumi in Boston, Justin Stephanie Avary Sean and Bob in NY, our former guitar player Chris Van Pelt and Cassandra in Virginia taking care of us while the van was getting fixed, Holi Kat and Mike in DC, Andrea and Huck in Columbia SC, Renee Becca and Erin in Athens, and finally Ananda and Ed in Tampa. Thank you people. What a blast. Tour diary coming.
While we were out the East Lansing show coming up on the 18th got an update: Rainer Maria will be headlining now, and that is super. All you Michigan heads- come on over. We are ready to bring it. --------------------------- |
